Living part-time in Mexico and traveling abroad makes for a perfect opportunity to photograph people of all ages. “Street photography” is perhaps a better term than my title “Portraits” since these are not done in a studio. And, as I’ve discovered over the years, I’ll choose to convert them into B & W or sepia rather than color. Landscapes and macro photography are another story.
Portraits tell stories, complex stories we can only hint at. As a photographer I aspire to catch a small glimpse into a person's life. While I may seek to capture the action and even the soul or spirit before me, a portrait — like all photography and art, is ultimately an expression and reflection of my own soul.
